Wood energy - Fuelling your future
Conference and demonstration day
10 September 2008
Westport Wood Hotel
Wood Energy - Fuelling YOUR Future will take place on Wednesday 10 September 2008 at the Westport Woods Hotel, Westport, Co Mayo.
Presented by SEI, COFORD and Teagasc this unique one day event will combine conference with practical demonstration elements including the chance to see operational biomass boilers on site. The day concludes with a visit to the forest to take a close look at chipping, round and firewood production together with a session on wood fuel quality.
The growing interest in bioenergy is a result of a change in attitude and policies - moving from just talking about bioenergy solutions to actually doing something about it. Increasing the supply of energy from renewable energy resources and in particular bioenergy is national policy the Government's White Paper Delivering a Sustainable Energy Future for Ireland and Bioenergy Action Plan together with the recent introduction of financial incentives reflect the Governments approach and commitment to ensuring safe and secure energy supplies. These also set out the roadmap that will steer Ireland towards a new and sustainable energy future with bioenergy very much the principal inspiration driving this movement forward.
The seminar will showcase the use and deployment of bioenergy and raise awareness across all sectors on the many uses and benefits to growing, harvesting and using wood fuels and energy crop products to generate heat, electricity and fuel for our homes and businesses. The event will focus on new opportunities, the economic drivers for wood fuel supply and use, address the important issue of supply chain and quality both in terms of the fuel and technology, and take a closer at the availability of financial support measures and Irish success stories.
Leading technology experts will share their experiences and expertise with delegates in an event that will be of interest to landowner to end user in the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors, and from forestry managers to those professionals involved in designing and installing heating systems, consultants and architects.
