Workshop on health and safety risks of biomass fuels
This workshop will be held by Pieter D. Kofman, wood energy consultant to COFORD
Like other fossil fuels, biomass fuels have their safety and health risks, but if they are understood and handled right, then these are minimal.
The workshop will discuss issues like:
- Self heating of wood chips and wood pellets
- Self ignition of wood chips and pellets
- Emissions of carbon monoxide
- Oxygen depletion
- Formation of fungi and bacteria spores
The workshop will present suggestions for the mitigation of the above mentioned issues.
Some suggestions will also be made on fighting fires in wood chips and wood pellets
The registration fee is €50.00 per person. This includes tea/coffee and handouts.
